London - The UK Home Office has announced updated Immigration and Nationality fees effective from 8 April 2026, with most visa-related charges increasing by around 6–7%. The changes apply across a wide range of immigration routes, including visitor visas, study permits, work visas, settlement applications, and citizenship. While the increases are not uniform, they reflect a broad adjustment to visa costs across the system rather than targeted changes to specific categories.

Visitor visa fees are among those affected, with both short-term and long-term applications becoming more expensive. A standard six-month visitor visa has increased from £127 to £135, while longer-term visas have seen more significant rises. For example, the two-year visa now costs £506, the five-year visa £903, and the ten-year visa £1,128. These changes mainly impact frequent travellers and those who prefer multi-entry long-duration visas.

Student visa applicants also face modest increases, with the main student visa fee rising from £524 to £558. Similar adjustments apply to child student visas and short-term English study visas. Although the increases are relatively small, they add to the overall cost burden for international students, who already face additional expenses such as healthcare surcharges and living costs.

Work and settlement routes show more substantial financial changes. Skilled and business-related visas, such as the Innovator Founder visa, have increased to £1,357 for applications made outside the UK. Settlement applications have also become more expensive, with Indefinite Leave to Remain rising to £2,064, and in-country applications reaching £3,226. These increases make long-term migration pathways significantly more costly than short-term visa categories.

Finally, UK citizenship fees have also risen, with naturalisation increasing to £1,709 and adult registration to £1,540. However, one notable exception is the child registration fee, which has decreased to £1,000. Additionally, the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) fee has increased slightly from £16 to £20. Overall, the changes reflect a general upward adjustment in UK immigration costs, with the most significant financial impact felt in long-term residency and citizenship applications.
