Visa Application Centres (VACs) handling Schengen visa submissions in the United Arab Emirates have resumed normal operations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in May 2026, following several weeks of disruption. The centres, which process applications for multiple European destinations, had experienced temporary suspension and reduced capacity between March and April due to regional instability and security-related operational challenges affecting consular services across the Gulf.

During the disruption period, several Schengen-related services were either partially suspended or significantly limited. Appointment systems at outsourced service providers such as VFS Global were intermittently frozen, while some embassies restricted submission slots for high-demand destinations, including France, Italy, and Spain. In many cases, applicants faced reduced availability, longer waiting times, and phased reopening schedules depending on visa category and urgency.
