Oman Introduces Free 14-Day Tourist Visa: Are You Eligible?

The Sultanate of Oman has introduced streamlined entry visa regulations to facilitate international travel and boost its tourism sector. Managed under the direction of the Foreign Ministry and the Royal Oman Police (ROP), the system provides clear, modern guidelines designed to make visiting Oman simpler and more efficient. Through the official ROP eVisa portal, visitors can access step-by-step instructions, online video tutorials, and dedicated customer support to help them choose and apply for the appropriate visit permits before traveling.

To promote tourism and make short stays convenient, Oman offers a visa exemption for eligible travelers from over 100 countries and regions. Citizens from these recognized nations can enter the Sultanate for stays of up to 14 days without applying for a traditional entry visa. To take advantage of this policy, all visitors must hold a passport valid for at least six months, proof of a confirmed hotel reservation, a return flight ticket, valid health insurance, and sufficient financial resources to cover their stay. Additionally, citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations—Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates—enjoy full visa-free entry.

The foreign nations eligible for the 14-day visa exemption are divided into two distinct groups based on entry requirements:

First Group (Unconditional 14-Day Visa Exemption): Albania, Andorra, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, French Guinea, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Moldova, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vatican, and Venezuela.

Second Group (Conditional Exemption): Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bhutan, Costa Rica, Cuba, Egypt, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Maldives, Mauritania, Mexico, Morocco, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, and Vietnam.

Note for Second Group: Citizens from the second group must hold a valid residency permit or entry visa for the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, or a Schengen Agreement country, or be GCC residents in an approved profession, to qualify for the 14-day visa-free facility (which extends to spouses and children).
