Yerevan - Armenia has introduced a temporary visa-free policy allowing residents of the United Arab Emirates from 113 countries to enter visa-free. The initiative, running until July 1, 2026, is designed to simplify travel and attract a wider range of international visitors, particularly from the UAE’s diverse expatriate population.
Under this policy, eligible travelers only need a valid passport and a UAE residence permit with at least six months’ validity. The visa exemption removes the need for advance applications, making it easier for residents to plan spontaneous trips. Visitors can stay in Armenia for up to 180 days within a year, offering flexibility beyond typical short-term tourist visas.
The move primarily targets the UAE, home to millions of expatriates from countries such as India, Pakistan, Nepal, and the Philippines. By granting visa-free access based on residency rather than nationality, Armenia is tapping into a large and mobile travel market that frequently seeks short-haul destinations for leisure and business.
This initiative is part of Armenia’s broader strategy to boost tourism and economic growth. With its rich cultural heritage, historic monasteries, and scenic landscapes, the country aims to position itself as an appealing getaway within a few hours’ flight from the UAE. The simplified entry process is expected to encourage more frequent visits and longer stays.
Although temporary, the policy represents a significant step toward more open travel between Armenia and global residents in the UAE. If successful, it could lead to extended or permanent visa-free arrangements, further strengthening Armenia’s appeal as an accessible destination bridging Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
