Armenia Extends Visa-Free Travel for UAE Residents Until 2027
7/7/2026

UAE residents looking for a quick getaway received excellent news as Armenia officially extended its temporary visa-free entry program through July 1, 2027. The decision allows expatriates living in the Gulf region to continue exploring the Caucasus nation without the hassle of applying for a visa ahead of time. This extension reinforces Armenia's position as one of the most accessible and popular holiday destinations for UAE communities seeking cultural tourism and scenic landscapes.
Under the updated regulations, eligible travelers can enter Armenia and stay for up to 180 days within any one-year period. However, the Armenian government has slightly modified the program by reducing the list of eligible nationalities from 113 to 111, with Sudan and Yemen being removed from the scheme. For the vast majority of Dubai and Abu Dhabi expatriates, the pathway to a European-adjacent holiday remains completely uninterrupted for the next year.
To benefit from this visa exemption, UAE residents must fulfill specific documentation criteria upon arrival. Travelers must present a valid physical UAE residence card (Emirates ID) or a corresponding passport sticker alongside their national passport. Digital versions or app screenshots of residency status will not be accepted at the border control checkpoints, making physical documents an absolute necessity for boarding and entry.
Additionally, border authorities enforce strict validity timelines that expatriates must check before booking flights. The UAE residency permit must be valid for at least six months beyond the intended date of entry into Armenia. Furthermore, all critical information on the residence card, including names and dates, must be printed in Latin script to ensure seamless verification by airport immigration officers.
With multiple daily flights operating from Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi, Armenia remains a top choice for long weekends and summer escapes. The combination of budget-friendly transit, a short three-hour flight time, and relaxed entry rules ensures that Yerevan will stay firmly on the travel radar for UAE residents through 2027. Travelers are simply advised to double-check their card expiration dates before heading to the airport.
